The UCI and Belgian Cycling have praised the organisation, safety and atmosphere of our races

Just like our students, our organisation received its report: not one, but two reports in this case.
These reports are the evaluations from both the Belgian Cycling Federation and the UCI: both the Belgian Cycling Federation’s report and the UCI’s were excellent or…
to put it in school terms: graduated with distinction, particularly in terms of safety.

The G.P. Monseré on 22 March consisted of two races: a race for U17 juniors (men) and the race for professional men.

Whilst the professionals set off from Ichtegem for several laps between Ichtegem and Roeselare, the U17s started at Polenplein, in the shadow of the statue of Jean-Pierre Monseré, next to Koers, the Cycling Museum. They rode one lap on the professionals’ circuit.

The report on the U17 race was drawn up by the Belgian Cycling Federation and comprises four evaluation criteria: Safety, Environment, Organisation, and Spectators & Course.

The organisers scored the maximum number of points on the first three criteria.

In terms of safety in particular, this is a real boost for the organisers: “very good security, excellent medical support” were the key words here, according to the Cycling Federation.

The course scored 10/10, as there is one large lap (rather than several small laps) on an attractive route. Only in the ‘spectator attendance’ criterion is there room for improvement, which is, of course, partly due to the size of this lap.

The UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) assessed the men’s professional race; they use six criteria, on each of which we scored the maximum.

To quote them: “The G.P. Monseré organised its safety arrangements to a very high standard, with an experienced team that cooperated extremely well”.

We therefore scored the maximum in safety, organisation, TV production, spectators and accommodation – a hearty pat on the back that is a real boost for everyone.

The UCI emphasised the quality of the work: the organisation of the team presentation, the communication and the high standard of the TV broadcast (for which the organisers themselves arranged the production with Sporza) were all met with great acclaim.

As organisers, we are particularly pleased that, aside from sponsors and spectators, we have also received this token of appreciation from these two bodies.
This demonstrates that our race, which is still growing, is valued both nationally and internationally. We are only able to organise and deliver this thanks to our large team of volunteers.
