Rocket Groenwegen launched!

Admittedly, the play on words is a bit obvious, but Roeselare has a monopoly on the word ‘raket’ (rocket), as Roeselare native ‘Fredje Raketje Deburghgraeve’ won Olympic gold for Belgium in 1996.

The daily hard graft, far from the spotlight, took place in the former swimming pool, located right on the final kilometre of our race.

Hard graft – that’s what our winner Dylan Groenewegen did during the winter months, and it paid off in gold: perfectly set up by his teammates, he was the first to cross the line in the revamped finish area.

A visibly disappointed Simon Dehairs was pipped at the post by Dylan. Kamil Malecki – remember that name – finished third after a full day of battling on the front line.
